By April 2026 Starlink's Standby wording no longer promised that resuming avoids the demand surcharge; it keeps only 'prior eligibility', so some addresses can be charged.

Standby Mode blocked while moving; in-motion use needs a Roam plan
In early March 2026 Starlink stopped $5/mo Standby Mode from working in motion, without advance notice. Travelers who used it as a cheap on-the-road link now needed a Roam plan, then from $50/mo.

Grandfathered Roam 10GB plan retired; accounts default to $5 Standby Mode
In January 2026 Starlink told remaining Roam 10GB ($10/mo) subscribers the plan was ending with at least 30 days' notice; doing nothing moved them to Standby Mode at $5/mo.

In August 2025 Starlink ended free pausing and introduced Standby Mode at $5/mo with unlimited 500 Kbps data, available to Residential customers for the first time, and removed the $10 Roam 10GB plan.
