What changed
On July 15, 2026, RV Mobile Internet reported three changes to Starlink’s travel plans, and Drive Tesla Canada reported the same on July 16:
| Plan | Before | After (existing customers from Aug 17, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Global Roam ($400/mo, per RV Mobile Internet) | On sale | Retired: closed to new orders; existing users must move by Aug 17 |
| Roam Unlimited ($175/mo) | Up to 60 days abroad | Up to 30 consecutive days outside the home region |
| Roam 100GB and Roam 300GB | Usable abroad | Home country or grouped region only |
| US and Canada | Separate countries | Treated as one region |
Drive Tesla Canada quoted the new wording for the metered plans: usable “anywhere within your registered home country. US and Canada are treated as one country.”
Who it affected
- Global Roam subscribers, who had to choose another plan before August 17, 2026.
- Roam 100GB and 300GB users who traveled abroad beyond the US and Canada.
- Roam Unlimited users on long trips abroad, whose limit halved.
- Cross-border US-Canada travelers gained: trips across the border no longer count as international travel.
- Residential customers were not affected.
What it did to the cost
For a US traveler staying abroad longer than 30 days, RV Mobile Internet said the remaining option was Global Priority, “$250+/month for 50GB.” Against Global Roam’s $400 a month, that’s cheaper per month but with a data limit instead of unlimited use; heavy users would pay more for extra data.
For US users who only travel within the US and Canada, nothing changed in price: Roam 100GB ($55), Roam 300GB ($80) and Roam Unlimited ($175) kept their May 2026 prices.
Roam plans are outside this site’s main focus; we cover the cost line only. For how plan retirements have played out before, see when a Starlink plan is retired.
What stayed the same
- Roam plan prices.
- Residential plans and Standby.
What to check yourself
- Read Starlink’s current Roam support page before planning travel outside the US and Canada.
- Today’s Roam prices are on our prices page.
What we don’t know
- What Global Roam users were defaulted to if they did nothing by August 17; the reports didn’t say.
- We could not open a July 2026 capture of starlink.com; figures are as reported.
