What changed
On July 28, 2026, RV Mobile Internet reported that the Standard dish could be bought again with Roam plans, at $349. It had been removed as a direct purchase option for Roam on about July 1, 2026, less than a month earlier, per the same report.
| Item | Before (~Jul 1 to late Jul 2026) | After (Jul 28, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard kit with a Roam plan | Not offered | $349 |
| Mini kit with a Roam plan | $199 cash | $199 cash or $16 × 12 |
The report called it the “Standard 4X dish.” We use “Standard kit,” as elsewhere on this site.
Who it affected
- New Roam customers who want the larger Standard dish for an RV, boat or seasonal site.
- For the few weeks it was off sale, those customers’ only direct option for Roam was the Mini.
- Residential customers were not affected; the Standard kit stayed available with home plans.
What it did to the cost
While the Standard kit was unavailable for Roam, the direct-purchase hardware cost for a new Roam customer was the Mini at $199. With the Standard kit back, the choice is again:
- Mini: $199 (or $192 over 12 months). Year 1 with Roam 100GB at $55: $859.
- Standard kit: $349. Year 1 with Roam 100GB: $1,009.
The Standard kit costs $150 more up front. This site doesn’t compare the two dishes’ performance or power use; it only shows the cost line. Over three years the gap stays $150, because neither kit has a monthly hardware charge when bought.
What stayed the same
- The Standard kit’s $349 price, the same as with Residential plans.
- Roam plan prices.
- The 30-day return policy.
What to check yourself
- At checkout, confirm which dishes are offered with the Roam plan you pick; the list changed twice in one month this summer.
- Compare the two kits’ year-1 and year-3 totals in the calculator and see one-time costs in the equipment cost guide.
What we don’t know
- Why the Standard kit was removed for Roam and then restored. Starlink did not say, and we don’t guess.
- The exact date it came back; the report is dated July 28.
- We could not open a capture of the order page from either date; this is as reported.
